Welcome

Hello people from AP English and Composition and maybe other people. My name is Vanessa Reyes and I am in the 11th grade; one more year and I am a senior. My topic that I will be talking about and writing about is poems. On the previous blog I wrote about what is poetry. Throughout the year I am going to be posting up poems or part of poems and analyzing them, I am going post a new poem each month. For now, I am going to welcome you to my blog for this year and maybe continue with it after AP English and Composition.
The reason why I chose to write about poems and analyzing them is because I really like poems. The way people write about themselves and many other people it is very fascinating. I really enjoy reading poems about people who have gone thought a lot of things and I feel that they are brave because they are able to express themselves in writing and not a lot of people are able to write things down and they act on those emotions without thinking about the consequences. Another reason why I chose to write about poems was because it is an easier way to write than doing it in big paragraphs.
From poems I understand several things. one thing that I understand is that there is different kinds of style of poems and there are others that are going to discover. I also understand its differences with regular paragraph form. There are many things that I do not know about poems and I really want to learn about it. One thing would be who was the person who wrote the first poem and who discovered it. I also want to know who has made the longest poem or poem related recorded down.

Dear Vanessa,
I have read your welcome post and I liked it. I really got the opportunity to learn why you chose to be part of this class. I am very glad you chose this class, because here is the place for winners not weiners. I know that you love poems and that you may have a hidden talent in writing whether it is in poetry or essays. Nonetheless, I hope I get to learn more about peoms because personally hate it.

Vanessa I enjoyed reading your post, I hope you gain everything you expect from A.P English and that as your classmate I can help you grow as a writer. But one thing that concerned me was that you think poetry is easier and well as someone that has read many poems and has gained knowledge let me tell you that, just because it has stanzas doesn't make it any simpler, in the contrary unlike a paragraph essay poems are much harder to understand because of how the author is trying to make you feel. But then again just like Wolverine I'm not a GREAT fan of poems, but if you find it easy then I'm guessing your very good at analyzing them, none the less, I hope one day you can share a poem with the class if a poet is in you which I'm sure there is.

Vanessa,
I think that you’re a GREAT writer and a girl who will achieve many things in her life. Through your blog I was able to understand the importance of poems through your point of view. I do agree that poems are great to express what your life experience has been but I disagree that poems are easy. At times poems may become challenging in my case because writing in an expressive form can be hard and confusing. Well I hope to learn more about poems through your blog and increase my passion for poems and writers writing

Vanessa,
I think we have the same blog. Lol. In a way we are both writing about the same thing, i am writing about songs, also known as poems with music. I believe that our blogs will be enjoyable because we are talking about things we love. I also believe it could be one of the toughest because of the variety of poems that we have to choose from. Not only that but poets also use various techniques of writing and I am sure it will be difficult for both of us and hope that we are able to help each other out.

Vanessa,
You are right, there are many types of poems out there. Some are short and some are long, I mean real long. Either way poems are very artistic. They can show emotions in one way or another. Some poems are confusing other are straight out simple. But I want to see you analyze the more difficult ones which will help us all see what they mean. I wish you the best of luck as you begin what I think will be one of the more harder subjects. But you have the potential to see the messages in these poems and inform them to all of us.

Dear Vanessa,
I'm really interested in your topic because i myself write poems. Many times i write them when I'm down or I have no other way to express myself. Your topic will show you different ways of how people show their emotion and how. As for any other person words touch the heart more than anything. In my opinion I think your blog will help those students who have trouble on learning how to understand how poetry is; and the differences between them. I also agree with what Gary mentioned about you and him writing about the same thing in a way, may be both of you could help one another and compare both of your topics to make it more interesting.
Sincerely,
Masyeli M.

V.Reyes,
Yes you are so write and you put it in better words that i could've of done. What i am talking about is what you said that poets express themselves without fearing the consequences. I would love to become a poet myself but i seem to never find the correct word to express what i really feel. Either way yes we will all benefit from the AP class and we can all become better writers and people in the future. I would love to recommend you a book but i don't really know how you feel about the Rap genre but lets give it a shot: The Rose That Grew From Concrete-By Tupac Shakur. This is one poetic book that has inspired me and has pushed me forward to achieving things even if the going gets tough. Anyways good blog and i look forward like i have told every other person that i have commented , i look forward to your blog and your post as well

Hello, poems are truly a fascinating form of art. Poems let you express the way you feel. I also truly admire those people who are able to write down fluently what they feel. It is not always easy to put down your feelings in a peace of paper, but when you are able to do it i truly think it is a liberating expirience. I personally like Poems because they can be written in any form. Their is no way to write a wrong poem. Even though their are many different forms of poems you can never express yourself wrongly.
I am happy that wanna learn more about poems. I truly suggest you do because you might find it to be a useful hobby to loose stress or just let time pass. You said that you wanted to learn more about poems so maybe a useful fact of poems you would be interested in is that the opposite of poetry are prose which means writing in a paragraph form. I just felt like sharing that with you. :))

Dear Vanessa,
After reading your blog i think this could be a time to prove me wrong because i think most poems are boring and yes they could express people's thoughts, ideas, and feelings but sometimes reading them gets me bored. Only thing i like about it is the rhyming part like gary said in music kind of type. Anyways i would like to keep in touch with your blog and hopefully it makes me become interested about poems and its structures. Maybe you could get some poems that rhyme for me because that will be great =D.

Hey Vanessa,
Awesome post. I loved the break down of the poem. I've never actually thought of it like that and I completely agree, poems come from the soul and the writer's feelings. I look forward to reading more of your poem blogs.
I recommend the "Where the Sidewalk Ends" poem book by Shel Silverstein. I am interested in how you can decipher those. It's not a boring book, i promise. Its kind of the book you won't be able to put down.
Well, keep it up!

Vanessa, your welcoming post is a good post to start off the people. One thing that was good and you did was say your passion for the topic. I think that many people would have just wrote about the topic, but not show it in their writing the enthusiasm, the effort, etc. I am guessing since you chose your topic you were prepared to know what you were going to write about. Furthermore, based on the writng you do show effort in writng this and that is good. Nevertheless, if you really like poems then keep trying and who knows you might be able to write good poems.

Vanessa, as a poet, I am selfishly interested in your blog. I love to read about poets and poetry, and I am always surprised by what draws teenagers toward reading and writing "verse."

People don't always agree about what makes a good poem, or even what the basic requirements are for a poem.

I will reserve comment for now, and read with interest.
